Natallia Miranchuk tells TechBullion how Soula combines a GPT-based chatbot with doula knowledge to support women through pregnancy and early parenthood.

On April 3, 2023, TechBullion published an interview with Natallia Miranchuk, founder and CEO of Soula. Soula is a mobile app that gives pregnant women and new parents AI-powered support at any hour. The page credits Angela Scott-Briggs as author.

Natallia Describes Soula as a Virtual Assistant App

Natallia describes Soula to TechBullion as a virtual assistant app. It combines a customizable AI chatbot, a pregnancy tracker, a daily planner, and a content library. The chatbot offers a daily support program around the clock, with emotional support "without criticism or judgment", in her words.

She says the app draws on the expertise of doulas and other pregnancy and parenthood professionals. The library holds structured, evidence-based content.

Miranchuk Has Led Maternity Projects for Over 15 Years

Natallia tells the interviewer she has over 15 years of experience leading projects in maternity and parenthood care. She is a doula, a coach, and a mother of two boys.

She founded and led newborn photography projects, she says, worked with more than 3,500 newborn babies and taught over 850 students worldwide. Her education and support projects for pregnancy in Belarus, run with USAID, UNFPA, WHO and UNICEF, reached over 350,000 women, she adds.

Soula Builds Chatbot Answers From Extracted Facts

Soula uses GPT technology. Natallia says the team does not let the chatbot answer from memory:

"Instead of generating answers from memory, we prompt ChatGPT to summarize relevant articles and facts and generate emotionally engaging responses based only on the extracted facts."

She says the system draws on a community of birth workers in the US. Two technology mentors guide the team: Andrei Kulik, an angel investor with over 22 years in software development, and Aliaksei Severyn, an expert in natural language generation.

Natallia Says Soula Works Alongside a Physical Doula

Natallia says Soula is meant to work alongside human care. It can help families with young children too, although pregnant women are the main audience. On in-person doulas, she says:

"Soula can and should work in conjunction with a physical doula and other pregnancy and parenthood educators and experts."

The App Was Free at the Time of the Interview

Natallia answered:

"Right now, the app is completely free. It may change in the future for some features, but the app will remain accessible."

The team was working on sharper chatbot recommendations, a larger content library with more experts, and the daily planner. Natallia invited investors to contact her.
